Asian Film Academy 2008

Asian Film Academy (AFA), entering its 4th year, is an education program hosted by Dongseo University, Korean Academy of Film Arts of Korean Film Council and the Pusan International Film Festival. It’s a place where prospective filmmakers and established and inspiring directors from Asia are gathered to prepare for the future of Asian cinema.

For last three years, the worldly renowned filmmakers participated in AFA. HOU Hsiao Hsien(Taiwan), IM Kwon-taek(Korea) and Mohsen MAKHMALBAF(Iran) were entrusted with AFA Dean and shared the philosophies on their life of cinema. Also top-class Asian directors and cinematographers stayed through the AFA period to share their experiences and ideas with the AFA fellows. While providing top-class faculty members and education, AFA has grown into the center of Asian Film Network where the talented young Asian filmmakers dreams of their future together.


AFA will continue to support the young Asian filmmakers and consolidate the network between established filmmakers and prospective filmmakers. Foremost, AFA will try its best to be a program to prepare the future of Asian cinema.
